The true believers used to say that - 'under socialism everyone will travel first class'.
But it seems that Labour leader - Ed Miliband - who is on his way north to Scotland apparently - has reached journey's end before the rest of us.
The papers are full of lurid tales about Ed and his entourage travelling 'First Class' from London to Coventry the other day.
Because his aides were caught out removing the 'First Class' seat covers - as the Labour leader arrrived with TV cameras and press pack in tow.
Not good publicity as Gordon Brown discovered - when he was famously caught on camera at a photo opportunity - with a Nazi swastika in the background.
Oh how they laughed on - Have I Got News For You.
Image is everything it would appear to the modern politician - but I don't really care if politicians travel by first class - so long as they can only claim standard class on their expenses.
Why should the public purse pay for first class - they can pay for that out of their own pockets - if they want some extra privacy and comfort.
