Dog Food Refund
The Telegraph newspaper has named and shamed 'honourable members' who repaid money at the height of the scandal over MPs' expenses - who have since been quietly refunded under a secret deal with the House of Commons authorities.
My personal favourite is the £4.47 refunded to the former Welsh Secretary - Cheryl Gillam - for dog food - how can the purchase of dog food possibly be a legitimate working expense?
But there are other examples - some involving substantial sums of public money.
For example, Sir John Butterfill - a former Tory backbencher - received a £15,000 refund after previously announcing he would return money received to help run the servants’ quarters at his Surrey mansion.
Amazing - here's the full list:
Roger Berry £635.25 refund for furniture
Chris Bryant £1,303.74 for mortgage and water rates
Sir John Butterfill £15,114.30 for servants’ quarters
