Student Politics

I missed the debate on the Politics Scotland show last Sunday - between outgoing SNP Justice Minister, Kenny MacAskill, and his Labour shadow, Richard Baker.

But I caught up with the interview on the Newsnet Scotland web site - where it can be viewed in full at: www.newsnetscotland.com

I have to say that Richard Baker is a fool  as well as being politically dishonest - in my opinion.

By misrepresenting the government's proposal to have a minimum price on alcohol - as a panacea - he shows he is not fit to hold high public office.

No one has ever described the policy as a panacea - or a magic bullet.

Instead all kinds of non-political professional opinion lined up to support a minimum price for alcohol - as just one in a wide range of measures - needed to tackle Scotland's booze culture.

Labour's shadow justice spokesperson comes across as a jumped up student politician - and that's about all he will ever amount to - I suspect.
