Edinburgh Male Claimants

Good news to report.

Edinburgh City Council has finally agreed to settle the outstanding claims of male workers in   both predominantly female - and predominantly male jobs.

The two main groups are male Home Carers, Cooks and Cleaners (which are predominantly female jobs) - plus male Janitors and Drivers (which are predominantly male, but non-bonus earning jobs).

In other words - all male claimants employed in former manual worker grades and jobs.

Most other councils settled these groups a long time ago - and it's been very frustrating experience - because the men involved did exactly the same job as their women colleagues.

But at last the city council has come to its senses - and justice will be done at long last - better late than never, as the saying goes.

Offers of settllement will be sent out to all Action 4 Equality Scotland clients - over the next few weeks.

So in the meantime just sit tight - there's no need for people to do anything - ignore the rumour mill and any nonsense you hear from the trade unions.

If you have any queries, ring the Action 4 Equality Scotland office - or drop Mark Irvine a note at: markirvine@compuserve.com
