Conference Rhetoric
It's well seen that the trade union conference season is getting into full swing - with more wild talk about strikes and industrial action.
The latest union to jump on this bandwagon is the SSTA - Scottish Secondary Teachers Association.
Which has apparently backed calls for industrial action - over a two year pay freeze for council workers, amongst other things.
Now quite why teachers deserve to be treated better than any else is not clear - nor is it explained in any of the reports that I've read.
I suspect this has more to do with inter-union rivalry than anything else.
Because what's really going on is that the SSTA is having a pop at Scotland's largest teaching union, the EIS - which is all very boring and predictable.
The point is that teachers are no better or no worse - than other council workers - and that's exactly how they should be treated.
Even though some see teachers - as a cut above everyone else.
