No Mean Tent City

Glasgow now has its own Tent City - an 'anti-capitalist' protest which has set up its home in George Square - right outside the City Chambers.

I passed it the other day - though I didn't have time to speak to any of the protesters - who looked like a bunch of students - sprinkled with a few 'alternative lifestyle' individuals.

Glasgow City Council has apparently asked them to move on - because they present a safety hazard to  council workers - who have the fun job of putting up the Christmas lights and festive decorations.

So far the council's polite requests have been ignored - though I imagine this can't go on for much longer.

Surely the Scottish weather will intervene and encourage an outbreak of common sense - before someone freezes to death.

If not the friendly Glasgow 'polis' are bound to step in - to help the protesters see the error of their ways.

I'm not sure if these events are connected with recent events on Argyll Street - where some idiot splashed paint all over one of the high street banks.

Now what was the point of that - you have to ask?

So we'll see what happens - but the area around George Square looks like a film set - all over again.

Maybe people will come to see the sights - thinking that Brad Pitt and World War Z are back in town.

Who knows - stranger things have happened in No Mean City.
