'Mad Dog' Mourinho
The fall-out from Wednesday night's football game between Barcelona and Real Madrid continues - with TV pictures showing that Jose Mourinho's behaviour was even more outrageous - than it first appeared.
The Real Madrid manager actually gouged the right eye of Tito Vilanova - a Barcelona assistant coach - then denied all knowledge including the identity of his victim - as if that made any difference to anything.
But to make matters worse - the suggestion is that the footballing authorities will not do anything about the incident - because it wasn't contained in the referee's official report.
Well so what - as they say - that's what the TV cameras are for and the be fair - the referee can only report on what he sees with his own eyes.
Or 'her' eyes of course - but not in Champions League football, as yet - though that's a whole other issue.
It's a bit like saying that some of these rioters and looters should get off Scot-free - because all we have are CCTV pictures of them committing their foul deeds - but thankfully such evidence is permissible in court these days.
So it's nonsense for UEFA or anyone else to turn a blind eye - to what happened on Wednesday night.
Football players can and should be disciplined for violent conduct on the field - which goes unseen by the referee but is caught on TV.
Jose Mourinho is behaving like a 'mad dog' these days - and someone needs to hold him to account for his bad behaviour.
