Complete Mince
I had to laugh at a report I heard yesterday.
Which said that leading politicians in Iran have called upon the UK government - to 'open up a dialogue' with the forces of dissent who have been rioting and looting in the streets.
Now I have to apologise - because I underestimated the 'mad mullahs' in Iran - whom I thought to be completely bereft of any sense humour.
But apparently not.
Because it seems like the Iranian government sees a parallel in what's been going on in the UK these past few days - with internal dissent in their own country.
Now this is nonsense of course - because what's been happening in Iran is that peaceful, completely non-violent demonstrations - have been put down with brutal and overwhelming force.
In one recent incident an innocent young female student was shot and killed - by government supporters - for joining a demonstration that was calling for more freedom of speech.
The violence and looting in the UK is not about democracy and free speech - quite the opposite.
In fact TV crews covering events have been going on have been routinely threatened and attacked - by the rioters and protesters.
Whereas in Iran - the international press and media have been banned from filing what goes on - by the Iranian government of course.
So 10 out of 10 for effort to President Ahmadinejad - but it's complete mince, as they say.
