Barrowlands Light Up

Here's a great story from Glasgow Live and a nice touch from the folks at The Barrowlands Ballroom - the scene of last year's PayFest party.

Barrowlands light up iconic neon sign in tribute to Glasgow's frontline workers

Venue bosses will do the same every Thursday at 8pm to coincide with the Clap for Our Carers

Glasgow music institution The Barrowlands has lit up its iconic sign once again amid the ongoing lockdown to pay tribute to frontline workers in the city.

The distinctive animated neon sign outside the venue in the Gallowgate had been switched off since the lockdown began.

But it came alive again last night to coincide with the weekly Clap for Our Carers in appreciation for the tireless work our frontline workers are doing.

And now Barras bosses have confirmed that they will do the same every Thursday for one hour at 8pm as their way of saying thank you to all the key workers in the city.

The Barrowlands tweeted:

"We'll have our sign lit up every Thursday at 8pm for one hour as our way of saying thank you to all the key workers out there, starting tonight.

"Thanks to everyone for doing what you're doing - we'll get there."

The famous sign is a major landmark for Glasgow and of the Scottish music scene and was erected some time in 1982.
