The Chosen One

I enjoyed this piece in Private Eye, the UK's best and only fortnightly satirical magazine, which draws a parallel between Ed Miliband, the Labour leader, and David Moyes, the former Manchester United boss.

KNIVES OUT FOR REDS BOSS

by Jeremy Axeman

After a series of lacklustre performances the man in charge of the legendary Red Devils, the so-called "Badly Chosen One", is in trouble.

Red Ed Miliband, the successor to the famous Scottish winner of the treble, Sir Tony Blair, looks in danger of losing his job.

Said one football pundit (Kirsty Wark), "With such poor opposition he really should be winning by a very big margin".

There are rumours that the famous "Class of 1997" will be called back to take over the running of the team, including such legendary names as Straw, Campbell, Mandelson and David Beckham.

(Is this right?)
