Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou, the celebrated writer, poet and civil rights campaigner died yesterday at the age of 86 and The Guardian newspaper published some of her inspiring words - here are my personal favourites:
- There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story.
- We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
- You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.
- My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.
