Unite and Fight
I wrote something the other day about Unite - the union - the other day.
Unite had attacked Glasgow City Council in the weekend press for 'wasting' public money on subsidised tickets - on a 'positive thinking' session with a motivational speaker - local Glasgow boy made good - Jack Black.
I wondered aloud why Unite was getting so excited about the City Council spending money in this area - which seemed a bit odd.
Especially when Unite has had so little to say about the £260,000 the council has been spending every year - on paying many councillors twice over for doing the same job twice.
I thought a visit to the City Council's web site - http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/ - and the councillors' Register of Interests - might help shed some light on the mystery.
And would you believe it?
Lots and lots of Glasgow City Councillors are members of Unite - the union - all Labour councillors as far as I can see.
But I gave up counting after the first six or so.
Now would the fact that so many Labour councillors are members of Unite - have anything to do with the union going after easy targets like Jack Black - when there are much bigger fish to fry?
I think we should be told.
