Dumb and Dumber
I watched two films on TV recently that were both rank rotten - Dumb and Dumber to coin a phrase.
'Shutter Island' was first out of the traps - a film made by Martin Scorcese and starring Leonardo di Caprio - couldn't be all bad, could it?
But the answer is Yes - it's awful, terrible, a confusing mess from start to finish - a murder mystery with far too many ridiculous twists and turns - and no redeeming features .
The only positive thing to say is that I didn't throw away good money to watch this drivel in the cinema - but it is definitely a Class A Turkey.
The second film was 'Legion' - an everyday story of God deciding to wipe out mankind - for reasons which are never adequately explained to the viewer.
But he chooses a strange vehicle for performing this task - zombie like creatures with wild staring eyes and a taste for human flesh and blood - but who all appear to be able to drive cars.
Because the zombie like creatures whom God has sent to do his bidding - meet their match in some run down diner out in the desert - where there's no public transport, hence the cars.
In a surprising plot twist one of the Archangels - I forget which one - throws his lot in with the little guys - yet the all-seeing all-knowing God doesn't spot this at the time.
The even more suprising end result is that the Supreme Being doesn't even get his way - though by that time I had lost the will to live anyway.
It's a bit like 'Zulu' or 'The Alamo', I suppose - directed by some deranged or drug addled Jesus freaks.
Maybe that fruit loop from America - Harold Camping - had something to do with it because its way beyond weird.
