Crime Writer Turned Comedian
Hilarious - I never knew Val wrote comedy!

I think Val McDermid should stick to crime writing after this embarrassing hagiography in praise of Nicola Sturgeon.
I have to admit I much prefer Ian Hislop's assessment of Sturgeon as a 'standard politician' rather than a saint.
Nicola Sturgeon - A Standard Politician Not A Saint

Ian Hislop hit the nail on the head with his comments on Nicola Sturgeon being a standard politician not a saint - for saying one thing then doing the exact opposite.https://t.co/MvaH7PmsWr pic.twitter.com/ICwTP7tGsn
Women's Rights and Single Sex Spaces (August 08, 2022)
Nicola Sturgeon and Val McDermid are big friends and it's only fair to point this out after the writer's public comments on the women's rights vs trans rights debate.
And contrary to what Val or Nicola suggest it's not 'witch-hunting or othering' to stand up for single sex spaces in sport - or in any other walk of public life.
It's about women's rights and proper respect for women's boundaries.
Cronyism and Nepotism Go Hand In Hand (April 22, 2022)
As far as I can see Scotland's First Minister spends most of her time promoting Nicola Sturgeon, the SNP and the cause of independence.
Instead of acting in the interests of the whole country - including those who voted for other parties or who have no great interest in politics at all.
A small but telling example is that when the First Minister visited Iceland recently, out of all the Scots writers she could have picked, Nicola chose to promote the work of her friend and SNP supporter, Val McDermid.
Bute Birthday Bash Kyboshed (November 22, 2021)
So my plans to organise a special birthday bash at Bute House have been kyboshed by the news that only close friends and supporters of Nicola Sturgeon can hire out the First Minister's official residence.
Seems a tad exclusive, unreasonable and unfair.
Does Your Face Fit......With Scotland's First Minister? (November 16, 2021)
I could be wrong, but I'm beginning to notice something of a pattern here.
The First Minister flew to Iceland recently (during the climate change 'emergency') and presented the Icelandic Prime Minister, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, with a copy of Val McDermid's new crime book, 1979.Bute Birthday Bash Kyboshed (November 22, 2021)
