Encouraging Words
A regular reader from North Lanarkshire has been in touch to say that she has received some encouraging words of support from a local MSP - Richard Lyle.
I wouldn't dream of putting words into Richard Lyle's mouth - he can speak for himself - but I understand that he doesn't agree with North Lanarkshire's foot-dragging tactics over equal pay.
And that he believes the council should settle all outstanding claims - where there are grounds for doing so - as quickly as possible.
Now that sounds eminently sensible to me.
So I imagine that people in North Lanarkshire will want to follow this up and ask where their elected representatives stand on the issue - especially those up for election in May.
The present Labour administration has no credible reason for not settling the outstanding claims - and following the lead of other councils such as Edinburgh City Council.
I understand that Richard Lyle is still a North Lanarkshire councillor as well as being a regional list MSP for Central Scotland - because he can hold both offices until the council elections in May.
So people in North Lanarkshire should take great heart and encouragement - I get the sense that this majority Labour council is now well and truly - on the run.
Because they know they are losing the argument big time - and the more people who shake the tree and rattle their cage - the better.
