Cowardly Custard
A regular reader from North Lanarkshire has been in touch.
One of the people who has written to the Council leader - Councillor Jim McCabe - to complain about the Labour administration's foot dragging tactics over equal pay.
And what do you know?
Instead of the Council Leader responding directly - Councillor McCabe appears to be hiding behind a senior and highly paid official - to do the talking on North Lanarkshire's behalf.
What a shocker - the rough old world of Lanarkshire politics seems to be full of cowardly custards these days.
Because normally politicians have opinions about everything - from the price of mince to the weekend football results - half the time you struggle to shut them up.
Except when it suits them of course - then they tell a senior council official to respond on their behalf.
Which is exactly what happened in Edinburgh City Council - if I remember correctly.
As I recall people who wrote to the Council Leader in Edinburgh - also received an initial response from a council flunkey - telling them in polite terms to go away.
But the good citizens of Edinburgh refused to be fobbed off - as if they were daft or didn't count.
So they wrote again to the Council Leader - Councillor Jenny Dawes - to say they would not be treated like idiots and that seemed to do the trick.
Now I haven't seen the North Lanarkshire letter yet - but I imagine it's full of weasel words and poor excuses for the council's bad behaviour.
I must look back and see what I can find on the blog site archive about Edinburgh - which might help people in North Lanarkshire.
Meantime employees in North Lanarkshire may well feel that the council's political leaders are letting the side down - and no doubt their friends and families will feel the same way too.
