Vanity Project
I was in Edinburgh yesterday and what struck me was just how big a mess the city's is still in - because of all this tram business.
Hundreds of millions of pounds have been spent and it's impossible to see - what this will all deliver in the end - except a few trams that no one needs or wants.
Not least because the bus service out to Edinburgh Airport is just fine as things stand - frequent, fast and good value for money.
So what the city and the whole country is wasting all this money for - is anyone's guess.
Just another example of a contract that's too expensive to get out of - so we'll soldier regardlessof whether the end product is really worth it in the end.
In the meantime Scotland's capital city is a terrible state - with roads all cordoned off and being dug up - and there's not a tram anywhere in sight.
Nor will there be for the foreseeable future - as far as I can tell.
Now if I remember correctly this barmy idea was forced upon the last Scottish Parliament - by a combination of Lib Dem and Labour votes - which has now cost us all the best part of £1 billion pounds.
Public money down the drain and a city in turmoil for years - and all for a political vanity project.
