Tu-whit,Tu-whoo
I couldn't give one hoot - never mind two - over ex-Sir Fred Goodwin's knighthood.
I wouldn't have given it to him in the first place.
Because the honours system is still essentially and old boys' network - full of strange people who are absolutely peeing their pants - to be 'preferred' with a gong by the great British establishment.
But you have to laugh at the politicians who are now queueing up to denounce the former Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) chief - as the spawn of the devil.
Many are the same 'honourable' members who had their noses sunk deep into the MPs' expenses trough - which trousered untold millions from the public purse for years.
Not the billions squandered by RBS, the regulatory authorities and the government of the day - to be fair - but then again these 'elected tribunes' of the people were there to set an example - about good judgement, probity and common sense.
So for goodness sake don't let them fool you - as a group of people our Westminster MPs have escaped justice.
Although only a few were prosecuted for criminal behaviour by the authorities - most of them were at it in one way or the other - our MPs completely sold on a 'grab it while you can' culture.
Claiming for second homes when they lived near enough to travel to Westminster - swapping mortgages around on their second homes - buying up fancy goods and extravagant household items - submitting claims for other people to do their laundry and ironing, for goodness sake.
So MPs of all parties are happy to lay into someone else for a while.
Because it takes people's minds off the venal behaviour of so many 'dishonourable' members - whose bums are still sitting on the green benches in the Palace of Westminster.
