Here's another e-mail from another reader in North Lanarkshire - who has joined the campaign to encourage the Council to do the right thing - over its outstanding equal pay claims.

North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) is up for re-election in May 2012 - along with all the other councils in Scotland - so let's hope there's an outbreak of common sense before then.  

No one's asking for miracles - it has to be said.

All North Lanarkshire has to do is to follow the lead of other councils - such as Edinburgh City Council - where these outstanding cases were settled long ago.

So let's hope that the political leaders are listening.

Just to let you know that I too have emailed Jim McCabe with regards to the equal pay claim.

I have also text all my colleagues and friends of friends etc, encouraging them to do the same.

The more people the better to put the pressure on, fingers crossed for a good outcome, we have certainly waited long enough!!

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer. So here's a list of activities which will help shine a light on what has been going on because as Lord Nolan once said apropos driving up standards in public life - 'daylight is the best disinfectant'.
