Cardboard Cutout

The government of Iran has come up with a novel way of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Islamic state - by parading an 'cardboard cutout' of the late Ayatollah Khomeini.

But the ridiculous idea backfired when people inside and outside the country began to make fun of the idea - which looks just a crazy as it sounds.

Here's a picture of an honour guard 'welcoming' a larger than life-size Ayotollah back on to Iranian soil - after spending years in exile.

The cardboard figure was then driven and paraded around other strategic locations in the city - presumably until so many people collapsed in laughter - that the authorities had to think again.

I can't imagine what would have happened - if it had started raining.
