No Butts on the Beach

I read in the news recently that there are moves afoot to ban smoking in some public spaces like parks and beaches, which sounds like a great idea to me.

After all smoking is now banned in football stadiums which are big wide open spaces, yet even smokers can see the sense in stopping people from lighting up and making a terrible mess of their surroundings which someone else has to clear up, of course.

So more power to their elbow, I say.

Because it's not stopping people from smoking it's just saying to them that you can't throw you fag ends everywhere including in the local park where children play or even down at the beach.
