The Guardian's resident cartoonist Steve Bell echoed the sentiments of Private Eye the other day in as much as the imminent retirement of Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond, seems not have affected his ability to dominate the political agenda.

In Memoriam
Alex Salmond, former
leader of the Scottish 
National Party.

So. Farewell
Then Alex Salmond.

Or rather,
Ae fareweel, alas,
Fir ever!
As Rabbie Burns
Puts it.

"Yes," that was
Your catchphrase.
But the people 
Said "No".

Have you now really
Left the stage
For ever?

"Yes," says my heart,
But "No" says my 
Head, as I continue 
To see you on the
Telly every night,
Going on and on
And on about
The transfer
Of powers.
