Someone on the train had the presence of mind to record the woman's horrible rant on their mobile phone - which later found its way on to You Tube.
Soon after Emma West found herself up in court on a charge of racial harrassment.
I take my hat off to the person involved - because it's really heartening to see people standing up for each other - and refusing to allow these bullies to get away Scot-free.
Which just goes to show there's more than one way to skin a cat.
You don't always need to be a 'have a go' hero - in this case someone's mobile phone and You Tube have done the trick - the modern day equivalent of the pen has proved mightier than the sword.
Emma West at first denied the charge but when faced with the video evidence in court her case collapsed - and she has been remaded in custody for her own safety, allegedly.
But the most worrying aspect of the whole affair is that her racist rant was carried out with a young toddler sitting on her lap - which raises difficult issues about her fitness to act as a parent.
Having watched the video the woman also seemed to to be under the influence of drink and/or drugs - so I would very much doubt that a young child is safe be be left in her 'care'.
Here is the You Tube link which is vile and disturbing - but at least the person responsible is languishing in jail - and it's a salutory lesson for any others inclined to follow in her footsteps.
