Taxi Driver Writes (24/02/15)
Private Eye, the UK's best and only fortnightly satirical magazine, has a regular 'A Taxi Driver writes' column which features some boring cabbie giving full vent to their views on how to solve the problems of the world.
In this case it's Labour's very own Billy Bunter, Tom Watson.
A Taxi Driver writes
Every week a well-know cab driver is invited to comment on an issue of topical importance. This week Tom Watson (Cab No. 49721) on the Historic Abuse Allegations circulating in Westminster.
Did you see that Leon Brittan finally snuffed it? Good riddance, I say. What a paedo. I mean, I haven't got any evidence that he was a paedo, but now he's dead I'm pretty sure that he must have been.
Stands to reason. He must have been. Just look at him: Tory. Big name in the Seventies. Friend of Mrs Thatcher. They're all paedos, aren't they? Makes you sick.
No - I met this bloke in the pub and he swore blind that not only was he a paedo, but that he also killed Diana. No - straight up.
Here you are, guv, Gatwick. Oh sorry, did you say Heathrow. I had that Jimmy Savile in the back once. Very nice man.
Do the Right Thing (31 January 2015)
Labour's very own Billy Bunter has been on the TV this week making claims about a Tory politician from the Thatcher era, Leon Brittan.
Now as far as I can tell the allegations being made behind the scenes, by as yet unnamed people, are already under investigation by the police who presumably don't require the MP's help in conducting their enquiries.
I don't know the man personally, but Watson gives me the impression of being a very odd individual whose interest in these matters is intensely party political whereas it ought to be about doing the right thing.
