SLC Update (16/08/15)
I made fun of the Unison South Lanarkshire branch the other day over its ridiculous 'Stewards Briefing' which tried to make an issue of my colleague Stefan Cross being an English person, as opposed to a Braveheart Scot.
Now I imagine that the idiots who wrote this nonsense over in Hamilton must be cringing with embarrassment over the 'dog whistle' politics which underpinned this document, but the fact is that the South Lanarkshire branch were not alone in using these despicable tactics.
Because Unison Scotland also produced a separate attack advert featuring the word 'English' and Stefan Cross Solicitors which I wrote about on the blog site at the time, and it must have cost the union a pretty penny (£20,000 a pop) to place the advert in the major Scottish newspapers.
Money which could, of course, have been spent on something positive like advising union members in South Lanarkshire and elsewhere about their rights to equal pay instead of attacking Action 4 Equality Scotland and Stefan Cross Solicitors.
So I am republishing these posts and hope that readers find them as funny as I do looking back at it all.
