The BBC reports that Scotland's criminal justice system has spared no expense in defending Ross Dunn, a low life scumbag who left a four-week-old baby girl with a fractured skull, broken leg and such severe ye damage that the child is now registered blind.

Ross Dunn apparently told his 'public defender' lawyer, Donald Findlay QCwho is one of Scotland's highest paid advocates, that he did not intentionally harm the child which the jury clearly did not believe as they found him guilty of attempted murder.

But having effectively robbed a young child of a good quality of life and ensured that the mother is forced into the role of a 'carer' for the rest of her life, Ross Dunn's 15 year prison sentence means he could week be released by the time he is just 35, with time off for good behaviour.

Whereas most right thinking people would regard Ross Dunn as a cowardly 'psycho', a real menace to women and children, who deserves to spend the rest of his days behind bars.

Ross Dunn jailed for Edinburgh baby murder bid

A man with a temper problem who left a four-week-old baby "permanently and severely disabled" has been jailed for 15 years for attempted murder.

Ross Dunn, 28, from Edinburgh, shook the girl and hit her off a surface when he was looking after her.

The baby suffered a fractured skull, broken leg, eye damage, bleeding and bruising and is now registered blind.

Dunn had denied attempting to murder the child at an Edinburgh flat on 17 November 2013 but was found guilty.

He was convicted of assaulting her to her severe injury and permanent impairment by seizing her by the body, shaking her, striking her against a surface or by means unknown and attempting to murder her.

He was also found guilty of failing to seek timely medical aid for the child knowing she was unwell and failing to tell doctors treating her the way in which she was injured.

'Inexplicable crime'

The baby cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Judge Lord Malcolm told Dunn at the High Court in Edinburgh: "This was an inexplicable, horrendous crime committed on a tiny baby.

"It is plain that only a lengthy custodial sentence would be appropriate."

The judge pointed out that the assault left the child with multiple injuries and has left her "permanently and severely disabled".

"She will never be able to enjoy a normal life," he said.

Lord Malcolm said the jury had concluded that the nature and severity of the assault on the child demonstrated that at the time Dunn did not care whether the child lived or died.

Severe disabilities

The child's mother told the High Court in Edinburgh: "She is a good little girl, but she has been left with very severe, life-long disabilities.

"She is not mobile. She is very floppy like a small baby. She will likely never stand, walk, even sit by herself," she told jurors.

Dunn told his defence counsel, Donald Findlay QC, that he had not intentionally harmed the child.

He said he had got up with the child to get a bottle for her and was holding her in his right arm and fell as he tried to avoid a baby walker used by an older child.

Dunn agreed with the prosecutor when he put it to him that he was a man who has had problems with his temper.

During an interview with police, Dunn said he sometimes lost control quickly. He agreed that he could lose his temper and overreact.

Defence counsel Donald Findlay QC said: "He accepted and accepts whatever did happen he could have summoned medical assistance more promptly."
