Leadership Farce (20/08/15)

I don't hold with anyone other than bona fide Labour Party members voting in their party's leadership contests.

But the whole business is descending into a terrible farce with the news that a chap from Rugby, Charlie Mortimer, claims to have received three ballot papers even though he is a member of the Conservative Party.

Now Charlie claims to have registered as a 'supporter' of the Labour Party, presumably at £3 a time, with the same email address and mobile phone number on all three of his applications.

Charlie also seems to have avoided Labour's well-honed vetting procedures by using his first name, middle name and wife's name on three separate application forms.

Apparently, Charlie has already completed his ballot forms and voted three times for Jeremy Corbyn which only goes to show the wisdom of the old saying:

"Vote early and vote often!"

No wonder Ed Miliband has gone quiet since he designed these 'reforms' which were supposed to reduce the level of trade union influence while making election contests more democratic.
