What Happens If?



A regular reader has been in touch to ask:

'What happens to my equal pay claim if I leave my job before the claim is finally settled - do I lose everything?

The short answer is NO - of course not.

If you are looking for a new job or coming up to retierment - there is nothing to worry about.

All that happens if you leave your job - is that your claim freezes on the last day of employment - but all of your service right up to that date still counts towards your claim.

Your claim then proceeds as normal - along with all the rest. 

If you leave your present job for another job within the council - you may have a new claim in your new job - in which case you need to take more detailed advice.
