More Moonlighting MPs

In this week's 50th anniversary special edition - Private Eye continues to shine the spotlight on the country's moonlighting MPs.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

"What, apart from his sterling work for Sunderland AFC - who have won a mere four out of 23 football games since the club took him on as vice-chairman on a £75,000 salary in February - has david Miliband been up to of late?

Last month he lent his expertise to the campaign by French politician Manuel Valls to be selected as the Socialist candidate in the upcoming presidential election, hosting a visit to Tottenham, a mere 286 miles from his constituency.

The pair apparently enjoyed a discussion or "riots, security, integration and Blairism", with Miliband taking a particular interest in the open primary system adopted by the French party to choose its candidate, which he said was "very interesting" (not entirely surprising, since using this method he would almost certainly have beaten his brother to the Labour leadership).

Alas, the curse of Miliband major struck again. This month Valls was knocked out in the fisrt round, coming in fifth out of six with a mere 6 per cent of the vote."

£75,000 is of course more than David Miliband earns in his day job as an MP - and while he comes across as a nice chap - like anyone else he can't be in two places at the same time.
