Making A Mockery Of Scotland's Democracy

While Nicola Sturgeon talked up the case for IndyRef2 senior SNP figures made a complete mockery of Scottish democracy by sharing bare faced lies and bogus claims on Twitter about Ukrainian refugees.

The Times reports that Deputy First Minister, John Swinney, and Christina McKelvie, Equalities Minister, were involved in the exercise along with senior SNP figures.

The laughable position of Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish Government is that SNP Ministers can say what they like - even lie through their teeth - so long as they lie through their teeth via personal Twitter accounts.

More Embarrassing Greens (July 14, 2022)

Politicians are always calling each other liars and cheats, but here's Ross Greer (a Green MSP) who seems perfectly at home making false claims.

The true picture tells a very different story:

As of 28 June, UK had issued 142,500 Ukrainian visas out of 161,500 applications received, and as of 27 June, 86,600 visa holders had arrived in the UK.

Scotland has already welcomed 7,286 displaced people from Ukraine, 4,666 of whom arrived under the super sponsor scheme.

How embarrassing.
