North Lanarkshire Update



I wrote about the pension entitlements of senior officials in North Lanarkshire Council the other day and explained why I think that final salary pension schemes operate like 'Robin Hood in Reverse'.

But there were some figures in the Council's annual accounts which I didn't quite understand such as:
  1. Does the chief executive's salary of £149,524 include a performance bonus?
  2. If so, how much was the performance bonus and how can any bonus be justified given the Council's 'performance' over equal pay? 
  3. Why does the CEO's salary package jump from £149,524 in 2013/14 to £172,699 in 2014/15 - an increase of £23,175 or 15.5%?
  4. Does the figure of £172,699 include a performance bonus and if this is the case, how can any bonus be justified in the context of equal pay?
Now if anyone knows the answer to these questions, please drop me a note because otherwise I am tempted to submit another round of FOI requests to North Lanarkshire Council.
