‘Doig..committed all the offences while he was aged between 15 and 21.
Judge Lord Clark said he gave Doig a shorter sentence..due to sentencing guidelines on young people’ https://t.co/Nt43Frz1Tn
Instead of reduced sentences for violent crimes if offenders are under 26 years of age, why not have longer sentences if the victims of violent crimes such as rape are young and not 'fully mature'?
The SNP government has approved a scheme which looks at criminal justice from the standpoint of the offender, but what about the largely female victims of these terrible crimes?
Is the current policy making a mockery of justice?
SNP - Soft On Crime, Soft On Serial Rapists (August 06, 2023)
Four courageous young women - Hannah McLaughlan, Jennifer McCann, Holly Prowse and Hannah Reid - waived their rights to anonymity to highlight the case of a dangerous serial rapist who has been given a reduced sentence due to the offender being under 26.
Hannah Reid, 23, tweeted: “He raped me from the ages of 15 to 17. Went on to rape a further four victims. We have a life sentence of trauma and PTSD. He can’t be rehabilitated.”
