Ain't No Such Thing As........A Little Bit Pregnant
Another letter from The Scotsman caught my eye although the argument made by Tim Hopkins is complete baloney.
I'm afraid you can't be a little bit in favour of free speech, just as you can't be a little bit pregnant - even if the trans lobby wants to have its cake and eat it at the same time.
Trans allies like Patrick Harvie call their critics 'bigots and transphobes' at the drop of a hat just for refusing to believe that men can self-ID and magically turn themselves into women - by the power of their own minds and imagination.
And please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember 'trans allies' queueing up to defend Joanna Cherry's right to freedom of speech during her dispute with The Stand.
Belief vs abuse
Scotland on Sunday columnist Euan McColm compares comedian Graham Linehan's experience with Leith Arches to Joanna Cherry's with the Stand (20 August).
But there is a difference between expressing beliefs in parliamentary language, and the kind of abuse Mr Linehan hands out to those of us who stand up for fairness and dignity for trans people.
Beliefs for or against trans equality are protected under the Equality Act; abuse is not. Well done to Leith Arches for saying no to it.
