Humza Yousaf, Derek Mackay and Patrick Harvie
Here's my letter to Humza Yousaf calling out the behaviour of one of his Scottish ministers - Patrick Harvie.
Letter to Scotland's First Minister, Humza Yousaf
Dear Humza Yousaf
Patrick Harvie - Equality Act 2010
I refer to your letter dated 18 May 2023 and my complaint about the conduct of Patrick Harvie, Minister for Zero Carbon Building, Active Travel and Tenants' Rights
Dear Mr Irvine
Thank you for your further correspondence of 05 May regarding your complaint about Mr Harvie and the ministerial code.
While noting the contents of your correspondence with Patrick Harvie was undertaken in his role as your regional list MSP as previously advised responsibility for the conduct of members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) lies with the Scottish Parliament.
I have enclosed our previous letter of 24 January which contains details of the complaint procedure.
Yours sincerely
Douglas Wands
Senior Private Secretary
Let me make it clear that I am complaining about Mr Harvie's personal conduct while holding office as a Scottish Government minister - Mr Harvie is discriminating against me for attending a rally at the Scottish Parliament and for holding beliefs which are protected under the Equality Act 2010.
I think it is fair to compare Mr Harvie's personal conduct as a minister with that of Derek Mackay, the former SNP Finance Secretary, who was forced to resign by your predecessor Nicola Sturgeon over personal messages to a 16-year-old schoolboy via social media.
The schoolboy's mother complained about Derek Mackay's personal conduct while he acted as a Scottish Government minister - she was not complaining about his behaviour as a local MSP.
I am raising exactly the same point in relation to Patrick Harvie's behaviour as I believe his conduct in cancelling and blacklisting people he disagrees with means that Patrick Harvie is unfit to serve as a minister in the Scottish Government.
I look forward to your reply.
Kind regards
Mark Irvine
