SNP, Witchcraft and the Scottish Parliament

An SNP MSP, Natalie Don, is apparently putting forward a bill in the Scottish Parliament calling for an apology to Scottish witches put to death over 400 years ago.

Phil Johnson from Renfrewshire is not convinced this is a good use of Natalie's valuable time and I have to say - I agree with Phil.

Natalie is a new MSP who worked in Derek Mackay's office until recently, see entry below from Renfrewshire council's register of interests:

1) Remuneration: Derek Mackay MSP - Constituency Office - Constituency Assistant (deleted 7/01/21) MSP salaries have just increased (by 3.4%) to £66,662 but Natalie is apparently still an elected backbench councillor in Renfrewshire Council which attracts a part-time salary of £18,604 from 1 April 2021.

Natalie was paid £18,000 as a Renfrewshire councillor up till 31 March 2021 and presumably is now being paid the new higher rate on top of her MSP salary of £66,662.

Natalie's salary as Derek Mackay's office assistant is not disclosed although is yet another example of an SNP MSP (and former minister) employing a local SNP councillor.
