SNP, Council Tax and Double Standards

A Glasgow equal pay claimant got in touch the other day to remind me that the SNP council has not always adopted a generous and understanding attitude regarding the repayment of council tax arrears.

Because when low paid council workers received initial equal pay settlements in 2019 the city council insisted on recovering all outstanding council tax arrears in one fell swoop.

Even if this swallowed up all of their settlement, claimants  were not allowed to agree a repayment scheme.

Contrast this hard line with the council's approach to Cllr Rhiannon Spear who received a £10,000 salary increase after being appointed as the SNP's Chair of Education - taking her enhanced salary to £29,000.

Is it just me or does this sound as if there's one rule for elected councillors and different rule for the council workforce?
