East Renfrewshire Council Services



I've been trying to get through to East Renfrewshire Council since Friday to speak to their duty social worker about an elderly relative who is really struggling to live independently at home and requires an urgent assessment of his support needs.

Two calls on Friday ended in frustration and failure, after waiting 45 minutes each time, and the latest call today has lasted 35 minutes and counting.

Incredibly there is only one number to ring - 0141 577 3003 - and all this achieves is to place callers on a seemingly never ending queue. 

Maybe the only solution is to email the council's chief executive and ask for the duty social worker to call back, but for the life of me I can't see how Covid makes it any more difficult for the council to answer the phone.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
