Glasgow - Equal Pay Update



I am about to leave for the claimants equal pay meeting over in Dixon Halls at 2pm this afternoon - here are some of the issues we will be discussing.

1) Update from the ongoing settlement negotiations with Glasgow City Council

2) The next joint meeting with GCC takes place on 22 May 2018 and this will be crucial

3) Key campaign dates and activities in the weeks ahead:

a) 4 May 2018 - Job Evaluation (JE) meeting
b) 6 May 2018 - Glasgow May Day March and Rally
c) 14/15 May 2018 - GCC to respond to Claimants proposals
d) 17 May 2018 - Lobby of the next full meeting of Glasgow City Council
5) 22 May 2018 - Joint meeting between the Claimants' and Council representatives

4) Lobbying councillors, MSPs and MPs over the next 3/4 weeks

5) Trade union consultative ballots on possible future strike action 

I'll post a report on the meeting later today or tomorrow, but the important thing to remember in the days ahead is that - 'Many Hands Make Light Work'.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
