'Project Feartie' (21/05/16)

Scotland's former First Minister, Alex Salmond, can't help himself these days - he seems to have an opinion on everything from the price of mince to the implications of a vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU).

Just the other day Alex, who is an international affairs spokesperson for the SNP down in Westminster apparently, predicted that a 'Brexit' vote `(to leave the EU)  would mean a second referendum on Scottish independence within two years.

Mr Salmond told the AFP news agency:

“Nicola Sturgeon said if we get dragged out of Europe against our will that would be the change in material circumstances that could lead to another referendum,” he said.

"So I think if that circumstance came about there will be an out referendum, it will occur within the two years period.”

“If you say to Scotland look, we can be independent, and within this European firmament or we can drift off into the North Atlantic with a Tory government. I think they'll choose independence.”

But what I don't hear from Alex Salmond, or the SNP for that matter, is a positive case for remaining in Europe - is he strongly in favour and of doing so, and if so why?

All this talk of a second referendum on Scottish independence is very confusing if you ask  me and, as usual, Alex can't finish a sentence without blaming the troubles of the world on the terrible Tories.

Sounds very much like 'Project Feartie' to my ears.
