Back Slapping


A kind reader from North Lanarkshire sent me this post from the Face page of the local Unison branch which appears to have received some kind of Gold Award for its campaigning activities.

 Now I don't know about anyone else, but there seems to me to more a whole lot more work to do in relation to the fight for equal pay in North Lanarkshire. for example, in relation to the Council's late-running job evaluation (JE) scheme.

 So it seems a bit premature to be for the local Unison branch to be indulging in this back-slapping and self-congratulation, especially when the 'award' comes from some other part of the union rather than the long-suffering Unison members from the North Lanarkshire Council branch.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
