Glasgow City Council Update

I reported the other day on the turmoil inside Glasgow City Council and the decision of a senior Labour councillor, Aileen Colleran, to resign from the ruling Labour Group and operate as an independent councillor.

As I thought, Cllr Colleran's ward is indeed in the west end of Glasgow and she represents Patrick West which will no doubt be of interest equal pay claimants living in this area of the city.

Cllr Colleran is a member of the Council's Finance and Audit Scrutiny Committee and her email address is: aileen.colleran@glasgow.gov.uk

Glasgow City Council Update

Glasgow City Council was in the news headlines at the weekend with The Herald reporting on the suspension of a senior official and the resignation of a well-known councillor from the ruling Labour group.

Cllr Aileen Coleman has abandoned the Labour administration to be an independent councillor and if I remember correctly, her ward is in the west end of the city.

I will get hold of Cllr Colleran's contact details as I suspect she may be an ally in the ongoing fight for equal pay - Ii certainly hope so.

By Gerry Braiden - The Herald

SCOTLAND'S largest council has faced a day of trauma following the suspension of one of its senior officers and a political resignation which leaves the ruling Labour administration's majority teetering on the brink.

Glasgow City Council announced it had suspended its £120,000-a-year-plus head of land and environmental services Brian Devlin pending an internal investigation, understood to focus on the award of contracts.
