The Stand
I was at The Stand comedy club in Glasgow last night until the wee small hours - and then the clocks went forward by an hour - hence the somewhat slower and slightly more sluggish start to the day - today.
But what a great night!
Top of the bill was a comedian all the way from Canada - Phil Nicol - whom I can only describe as a real force of nature.
Phil has the personality and natural talent for a stand up comic - but he is also a very gifted singer/songwriter - as he showed with an original number - 'I'm the only gay Eskimo in my tribe'.
Not just in the inimitable style of Phil Nicol himself - but also as The Proclaimers, Bob Dylan, Morrisey, Nirvana and Oasis.
Phil nearly brought the roof down with his Eskimo song- his last number - as a willing victim from the front row joined him on stage - Jimmy, all the way from Glenboig.
Fred MacAulay was compere for the evening - and managed to combine his duties of introducing all the acts - while being on top form himself.
So if you're looking for a really good night out then head for The Stand - this is the second week of the Glasgow Comedy Festival - which runs until 1 April 2012.
