Imitation and Flattery
Just about a year ago the Scottish Parliament considered a proposal to bring in a minimum price for alcohol.
The only party behind the idea at the time was the SNP - which led a minority Scottish Government.
The other three main opposition parties - Labour, Tories and the Lib Dems all ganged up to vote down the proposal - being stuck in mind set where all they wanted to do was to oppose things just for the sake of it.
Twelve months on and my how times have changed - the Lib Dems in Scotland now support the idea in principle - having seen the error of their ways.
But more importantly the coalition government in Westminster - the Conservatives and Lib Dems - have brought forward their own plans to introduce similar legislation - in England and Wales.
Which I think is a good idea - not a magic bullet by any means - but part of a package of measures to help tackle the country's poor relationship with alcohol - where binge drinking is a huge problem.
So it seems that the only party which is still stuck in the mud - largely because of its visceral hatred of the SNP - is the Scottish Labour party.
Which is a real shame because tackling the damage done to society by binge drinking - is an issue where all political parties should be able to unite, work together - and show leadership.
