Funny Gag
The latest manufactured row to appear in the press - is this nonsense about Tommy Sheridan being 'gagged' on his release from jail.
Now what exactly do people expect - that Tommy should be allowed to act as some kind of B-list celebrity - as soon as he steps out of prison?
For goodness sake he's supposed to be on home leave for a few days - rebuilding his life and spending some time with his family.
Not holding press conferences - and giving media interviews.
More to the point if Tommy starts trotting out the old line that he's innocent - 'infamy, infamy- they've all got it infamy' - then why let him out of jail in the first place.
The early release from prison programme is about people facing up to their responsibilities - and the reasons why they ended up in jail.
If Tommy - whom I quite like by the way - comes out of jail for a weekend proclaiming that he's some kind of political prisoner - then I say let him serve his full three-year sentence.
Because he will have learned nothing while being locked away.
So I suspect this is all a publicity stunt - a piece of nonsense from first to last - yet another bit of grandstanding which is best ignored.
If you don't - you'll only encourage him, you know.
