Stone the Crows

The Independent on Sunday reported yesterday that David Miliband - the one who lost the Labour leadership election - was 'horrified' to learn that a London School of Economics (LSE) lecture in his late father's name - was delivered by none other than Saif Gaddafi.

Saif Gaddafi is, of course, the son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and - in recent days - Saif has emerged as a spokesman and apologist-in-chief for the odious Libyan regime.

Last May - around the time of the general election - Saif Gaddafi gave the Ralph Miliband 2010 Memorial Lecture - which was established in 1996 by a former LSE PHD student who was inspired by Ralph Miliband - a famous socialist thinker and writer.

Well Ralph must be 'turning in his grave' - at the LSE's ridiculous toadying up to the great dictator and his son - what were these people thinking about?

An independent inquiry into the extent of LSE's links with Libya is now underway - and will be conducted by the former Lord Chief Justice - Lord Woolf.
