Libyan Links at LSE

The director of the London School of Economics (LSE) - Sir Howard Davies - has resigned over the LSE's links to Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

The LSE accepted a donation of £1.5 miilion from the Libyan regime - despite strong objections about Gaddafi's appalling track record on human rights.

Davies acknowledged these concerns at the time, but decided nonetheless to take the money - £300,000 of which came from Colonel Gaddafi's son - Saif Gaddafi.

But Davies now believes that his decision was a 'personal error of judgement' - so he has done the decent thing and resigned his position at the LSE - with immediate effect.

Let's hope others now follow his lead - or at least are put in the public spotlight - to explain their links to Gaddafi and his odious regime.

Including those of the former MP for East Kilbride - Adam Ingram - who built up extensive business links with Libya - from his days as the longest serving defence minister in the last Labour government.

I'm sure I wrote something about this at the time - must see f I can find the post in question.
