Voting With Your Feet
Perhaps it's not surprising.
But on the back of all the shenanigans in North Lanarkshire Council - I've had lots of enquiries from people who want to know if they can transfer their equal pay claims - to Action 4 Equality Scotland.
The trade unions in North Lanarkshire are getting it in the neck apparently - for not speaking up on behalf of their members - and for giving the impression to all and sundry that they are in bed with the council leadership.
'Can I ditch my useless trade union and transfer my claim to Action 4 Equality Scotland?'
Well the good news is that the answer is - YES - of course you can.
Because it's your claim - it doesn't belong to the trade unions - and people can transfer their claims easily and without any fuss.
Action 4 Equality Scotland charges a fee of 10% + VAT - which means (at the current VAT rate) that people keep the lion's share - or 88% - of their settlement.
But at least you get a good service - and the comfort of knowing that your case will be handled robustly and independently.
By people who are not joined at the hip - politically speaking - with North Lanarkshire Council.
So if you are getting a poor service from your trade union - then drop Mark Irvine a note at: markirvine@compuserve.com
Action 4 Equality Scotland will deal with the rest.
