Cat's Out the Bag

Here are some more extracts from North Lanarkshire Council's 'secret' report on equal pay:

"It is their advice that it would be in the Council's interests to settle these claims at a better discount at this time as they will certainly be amended in due course to incorporate the correct legal arguments and, once this is done, the offer of a better discount is likely no longer to be available. Accordingly, authority is sought  ......... although it is anticipated that a better discounted settlement can be achieved." 

Now I don't know if it's just me - but I think that this is a thoroughly disgraceful way for a Labour council to behave. 

My contacts locally tell me that the unions are in the process of selling out their own members - but if that's the case then I think their tactics will backfire.

Because people are not daft and besides - the cat's now out of the bag. 

So my prediction is that if the present council leadership and the trade unions decide to push ahead with a grubby deal - then there will be hell to pay.

Because it would be outrageous for all the outstanding women claimants to be left out in the cold - high and dry - while the council tries to introduce a new agreement which sells its own workers short. 

Shame on you - North Lanarkshire.
