Scotland's public finances are in a terrible mess because of the tax and spend decisions of SNP ministers over the past 17 years.

Margaret Thatcher is not to blame and neither is the new Labour Government which has been in power for just a matter of weeks.

Jim Sillars is spot on about the dreadful personality cult which allowed Peter Murrell and Nicola Sturgeon to run the SNP as a 'Mr & Mrs' tag team for years. What's astonishing is that SNP members - party activists, councillors, MSPs and MPs - turned a blind eye to things for so long  which helps explain why the SNP is in such a terrible mess today.
