Horse with No Name (17/04/15)
I've been watching 'Breaking Bad' on Netflix recently, a really bizarre but compulsively watchable American TV series starring Bryan Cranston - the likeable, goofy and put-upon Dad from 'Malcolm in the Middle', another great comedy export from the USA.
Breaking Bad is set in New Mexico and tells the tale of a chemistry teacher (Walter White) who discovers he has inoperable lung cancer and so, in an effort to provide for his family after he's gone, Walt turns his hand to making 'crystal meth' - a highly lucrative though thoroughly dangerous business.
Shortly afterwards Walt's previously quiet suburban life begins to fall apart in the most spectacular way imaginable as he lies and lies and then lies again - turning his back on all the values by which he had lived his life until things turned sour and bad.
Breaking Bad has some tremendous music to accompany all the plot twists and turns, and one of the programmes features this great song from the 1970s, if I remember correctly, ' A Horse with No Name' by the rock group America.
